We advise our customers that a small bike doing approximately 100 miles a week should be serviced every 3 months. Although this is more frequent than some manufacturers specify it will ensure that developing problems can be identified before they become expensive disasters. Smaller engines can get used harder and so need to be looked after. Wash your bike regularly and use the opportunity to have a good look at it . Check bolts are tight, look for traces of oil around the forks. Seals should last a several thousand miles but its something to look out for as your bike gets older. Check the chain, it should lift no more than 15 mm. Oil your chain when you wash your bike and spray WD 40 or similar on exposed cables, this is also good for preventing chrome or exposed metal from rusting, especially when storing the bike for a long time.
